DSE

i. For S4 to S6 students
ii. 1,2 or 3 classes per week
iii. Students will be prepped to perform for the English DSE exam, they have to learn about different exam-tasks where teachers at Building Blocks would provided student with consistent and meaning feedback on the students’ listening, speaking reading and writing skills, feedbacks are important as they would help student understand their setbacks and develop in that area.
iv. Reading & Writing

Skills to be learned:

Students will be doing reading practices like fiction/non-fiction SBA passages, writing practices like e-mail/letter writing, articles and various types of discussions.

Focused reading
Expanded vocabulary
Speaking exams

Presentation skills
Enhanced language skills on a range of topics

Writing to express message to intended reader
Develop critical and imaginative response to ranges of texts

Student will participate in Individual Response and Group Interaction speaking exam practice tasks,

Generate ideas
Speak in coherent and organised manner to express ideas

Turn-taking
Learn how to deal with follow-up questions and answering after thinking critically

Use appropriate communication strategies ( opening a discussion & Asking for opinions)
